Whether you are starting out in a sit-on-top kayak or whether you are an experienced paddler looking for some professional qualifications, we have the course for you.
We can offer our clients recognised British Canoeing qualifications in the following:
Paddle Start Award
Start your paddling experience with a taster session in either canoe, kayak or stand-up paddleboarding (SUP). During your 90-minute session on the water you will learn the fundamental skills for safe and enjoyable paddling. We will equip you with the basic knowledge and skills to enable you to make your chosen craft move in all directions, with fun and games along the way.
This Start Award will give you the confidence to begin progressing towards making your own choices and paddling independently, and it acts as a great steppingstone into the Paddle Discover Award.
All kit and equipment is provided, such as wetsuits, buoyancy aids etc.
Who is this course for? this course is for the novice paddler looking to get a taste for paddlesport in a safe, enjoyable environment.
What to bring: swimwear, an old pair of shoes that you don’t mind getting wet, and a towel. A fleece or wool jumper is useful as an additional layer in winter.
Craft: a choice of canoe, kayak, sit-on-top kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Please let us know in advance which craft you wish to use.

Paddle Discover Award
This four-hour session will help you take your next steps towards becoming an independent paddler, developing an understanding of the factors that affect your paddling, honing your decision-making and practical skills, and giving you the confidence to have a safe, fun time on the water.
The Paddle Discover Award will give you the confidence to begin progressing towards making your own choices and paddling independently, and acts as a great steppingstone into the Paddle Explore Award.
All kit and equipment is provided, such as wetsuits, buoyancy aids, boats, paddles etc.
Who is this course for? anyone who has had their first experience on the water and wants to deepen their knowledge and progress towards becoming an independent paddler.
What we may cover: kit and equipment, launching and landing, effective forward paddling, turning, stopping, external factors to our paddling, safety of yourself and others.
What to bring: swimwear, an old pair of shoes that you don’t mind getting wet, and a towel. A fleece or wool jumper is useful as an additional layer in winter.
Craft: a choice of canoe, kayak, sit-on-top kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Please let us know in advance which craft you wish to use.
Duration: 4 hrs per session (you can choose how many sessions you need).
Cost: £95 per day inclusive of certification fees, full instruction and all equipment.
Paddle Explore Award
This one-day course is designed to enable paddlers to take ownership of their personal paddling journey, whether that be canoe, kayak or SUP. Working with one of our experienced coaches, you will develop both your paddling skills and your environmental awareness, enabling you to make more confident choices when out paddling independently in the sheltered water environment.
All kit and equipment is provided, such as wetsuits, buoyancy aids etc.
Who this course is for: anyone with previous paddling experience in their chosen craft who is ready to paddle independently in the sheltered water environment.
What we may cover: kit and equipment, launching and landing, effective forward paddling, steering, turning, stopping, moving sideways, external factors to our paddling, safety of yourself and others.
What to bring: swimwear, an old pair of shoes that you don’t mind getting wet, and a towel. A fleece or wool jumper is useful as an additional layer in winter.
Craft: a choice of canoe, kayak, sit-on-top kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Please let us know in advance which craft you wish to use.
Duration: this is a one-day course (you can choose how many days you may need).
Cost: £95 per day inclusive of certification fees, full instruction and all equipment.
